'scorched', yiyeceklerde ('scorched toast'), bitkilerde ('scorched earth') ya da deride sıkça kullanılır. 'singed'dan daha fazla, 'burnt'dan daha az şiddetli bir yanma belirtir. Genellikle yazılı ve resmi dilde geçer.
