衛星とは、惑星や星の周りを回る天体や機械のことです。自然のもの（例えば月）も人工のもの（宇宙に送られた機械）もあります。

「衛星」は複数形。「星」とは異なり、地球や惑星の周りを回るもの。科学的な文脈では人工衛星を指すことが多い。「natural satellites」は自然の衛星（例えば月）、「artificial satellites」は人工衛星。
