"runt" in Japanese

• 一番小さい子（動物の兄弟で）- 小柄な人（やや侮蔑的）

Definition

同じ母親から生まれた兄弟の中で最も小さい、または弱い動物。非常に小柄または弱い人を指すこともあり、時に侮蔑的です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

動物の場合は中性的、人物に用いると侮蔑表現になることが多い。「the runt of the litter」は動物に使う決まり文句。人に対して使う際は注意が必要。
