發出像鈴或電話那樣清晰、重複的聲音。它也可以表示一種很強的聲音，彷彿一直留在耳邊。

最常和電話、鈴、警報以及耳朵連用：'The phone is ringing', 'ringing in my ears'。作為 -ing 形式，它通常和 'be' 連用，或放在名詞前，如 'a ringing phone'。不要和名詞 'ring'（圓圈、戒指）混淆。

The phone is ringing in the kitchen.
