发出像铃或电话那样清晰、重复的声音。它也可以表示一种很强的声音，仿佛一直留在耳边。

最常和电话、铃、警报以及耳朵连用：'The phone is ringing', 'ringing in my ears'。作为 -ing 形式，它通常和 'be' 连用，或放在名词前，如 'a ringing phone'。不要和名词 'ring'（圆圈、戒指）混淆。

The phone is ringing in the kitchen.
