「リフト」とは、特に関係や物の表面にできる深刻な亀裂や割れ目を指します。また、人間関係での対立や仲違いも表します。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主にフォーマルや文語で用いられる。「a rift between friends」は友情の不和を表す。地質学でも用いられる。'cause a rift'や'deep rift'はよく使われる表現。
