Definition
El arroz es un grano pequeño, blanco o integral, que se cocina y se come como alimento. También puede referirse al arroz ya cocido, que forma parte habitual de muchas comidas en muchos países.

Normalmente es incontable: se dice 'some rice' o 'a bowl of rice', no 'a rice' cuando hablas del alimento. Combinaciones frecuentes: 'cook rice', 'steamed rice', 'fried rice' y 'rice field'. En restaurantes, 'rice' suele referirse al acompañamiento ya cocido.
