Definition
「サイ」は「rhinoceros（サイ）」の略で、大きくて皮膚が厚く、鼻に1本または2本の角がある草食動物です。アフリカやアジアに生息し、絶滅の危機に瀕している種もいます。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
日常会話や文章では「サイ」が「rhinoceros」よりよく使われます。「white rhino」「black rhino」「rhino horn」「rhino poaching」のような英語表現でよく見かけます。「rhino」が古いイギリス英語でお金を意味する場合がありますが、現代ではほとんど使われません。
