Definition

以前に通った道や手順をもう一度たどること、または過去の出来事を思い出して順を追って確認すること。

'retrace your steps'は「自分の通った道をもう一度たどる」という意味でよく使われます。日常会話よりも少し硬い表現です。

I had to retrace my steps to find my lost keys.

失くした鍵を見つけるために、自分の**足取り**をたどり直さなければならなかった。
