何かを再度行うことで、特に試験や写真の撮り直し、あるいは失われたものを取り戻す場合に使います。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

“テストを再受験する”、“写真を撮り直す”のように使われます。学術的な文脈ではよりフォーマルです。「repeat」とは異なり、同じことを再度行う場合に使います。
