Definición

体や頭を休めるために仕事や動きを止めること。また、物事の残りの部分を指すこともある。

日常会話でよく使われます。'take a rest', 'rest well', 'at rest' などのフレーズで登場します。'the rest of the day' は残りの時間を指します。'break'は短い休憩なので混同しないように。

I need to rest after a long day at work.

長い一日の仕事の後は**休憩**が必要です。
