何かに立ち向かったり、自分の欲求を抑えたりすること。物理的な力や変化、誘惑などへの抵抗も指す。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

'resist pressure'（プレッシャーに抵抗する）, 'resist temptation'（誘惑を我慢する）のように使うことが多いです。'resist to'とは言わず、動詞や名詞に直接使います。やや硬めの表現です。
