누군가 또는 어떤 것이 일반적으로 어떤 평판이나 신분을 가지고 있다고 여겨지지만, 확실하지 않을 때 사용한다.

주로 격식체나 글에서 명사 앞에 사용한다('reputed artist' 등). 확실하지 않은 평판이나 소문을 말할 때 쓰며, 'reputable'와는 다르다.
