Definition

望ましくないものを押しのけたり、遠ざけたりすること。物理的なものや感情・考えに使われる。

やや堅い表現で、科学・防御・感情面でよく使う。「repel water」「repel attacks」などが例。'repulse'は嫌悪感を意味するので混同しないこと。関連語に「repellent（忌避剤、反発する）」がある。
