Definition

किसी जगह, स्थिति या अवस्था में बिना बदले बने रहना। इसका मतलब यह भी हो सकता है कि कुछ हिस्सा उपयोग, हटाने या लेने के बाद बाकी रह जाए।

Usage Notes (Hindi)

यह शब्द औपचारिक और तटस्थ अंग्रेज़ी में बहुत आता है। इसके बाद अक्सर adjective या noun phrase आता है: 'remain calm', 'remain silent', 'remain a mystery'। जब मतलब 'बाकी रहना' हो, तो 'only two remain' जैसी संरचना मिलती है। कई संदर्भों में यह 'stay' से अधिक औपचारिक लगता है।
