登記簿とは、権威ある機関や組織が名前や財産、出来事などの情報を記録・管理する公式なリストや記録です。

フォーマルな場面でよく使われます。「wedding registry」はギフトリスト、「land registry」は不動産登録簿を指します。動詞「register」と混同しないように注意。IT用語の「registry」はシステムファイルの意味もあります。
