理由

Definition

理由とは、物事が起こる理由や人が何かをする理由を説明するための事実や説明、考え方のことです。意見や行動を正当化するときにも使います。

多くの場合「〜の理由」「〜である理由」などの形で使います。「reason」は中立的な語で、日常会話やフォーマルな場面でもよく使います。「excuse」（言い訳）とは異なり、正当な説明を表します。

She gave two reasons for leaving early.

彼女は早く帰る**理由**を二つ挙げた。

I have many reasons to be happy today.

今日は幸せでいる**理由**がたくさんある。

The teacher asked for our reasons.
