何かが起こる、または誰かが何かをする理由や説明のこと。また、論理的に考えたり判断する力も指します。

'the reason why', 'for a reason', 'no reason' などの表現で「理由」が使われます。「理性」は論理や思考能力の意味です。「cause」よりも抽象的・論理的な場合に使います。
