本や雑誌、記事などを読む人のこと。または、読むための機器や本を指すこともある。

通常は複数形で、人々の集団を指します。「熱心な読者」「若い読者」などの表現があります。電子書籍端末などの意味もあります。「聴衆」とは異なります。
