「光線」是指一條細小的光束、能量或其他輻射。這個詞也可以指一種扁平的海洋魚類（鰩魚）。

「Ray」通常指陽光（a ray of sunshine）、X光（X-ray）、雷射等。如果說魚，是「鰩魚」。數學上的“射線”在日常不常用。
