Definition

「かなり」は「ある程度」や「多少」何かを強調する時、または何かを選ぶときに使います。

「rather」は形容詞や副詞の前に置きます。'would rather'（〜のほうがいい）は選択を表すとき使います。少しフォーマルな響きです。

It's rather cold today.

今日は**かなり**寒いです。

Would you rather have tea or coffee?
