物事が非常に速く起こったり動いたりすること。普通よりずっと速い場合に使います。

「rapid」はフォーマルや科学的な場面で使われることが多いです。「rapid growth」「rapid change」「rapid response」のような言い回しに使われ、人には使いません（「fast runner」と言います）。
