Un período de lluvia intensa, generalmente acompañado de vientos fuertes, que a veces causa inundaciones o cortes de luz.

'Rainstorm' se usa para lluvias muy fuertes y repentinas que pueden ser peligrosas. No significa lluvia común; puede durar poco, pero es intensa. Se suele decir 'a severe rainstorm'. No confundir con 'thunderstorm' (tormenta eléctrica).
