Barras largas de metal por donde pasan los trenes (vías), o barras usadas como barreras o apoyo de la mano, como en escaleras o balcones.
Usage Notes (Spanish)
Sustantivo plural; usualmente se refiere a los rieles del tren, pero también a barandillas o pasamanos. En frases como 'to get back on the rails', se usa figurativamente (recuperar el rumbo). No se usa para las cercas.
