Definition

相手に質問して情報を得たり、疑いや確認の気持ちを表す行動や態度。警察などによる正式な尋問や、相手の意見・決定に対する疑いの表現も含みます。

'police questioning' は警察による尋問を指します。'a questioning look' や 'a questioning voice' のように使われ、単なる質問以上に、疑いや確認のニュアンスがあります。単なる質問（question）と混同しないよう注意。

The police took him in for questioning after the accident.
