何かを探したり、狙ったりするために、静かに注意深く場所を歩き回ること。主に動物やこっそり動く人に使われる。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

「prowl」は動物（特に猫や捕食動物）が静かに動くときによく使う。人間の場合も怪しげに動く様子に使う。「on the prowl」は何かを探して動き回る意味。
