検察官は、裁判で被告人が罪を犯したと証明しようとする政府側の法律専門家です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に法廷や法律の場面で使われます。「defense lawyer（弁護人）」の対義語です。アメリカでは“district attorney”もこの職種に含まれますが、国によって名称や役割が違うことがあります。
