予後とは、病気や状況が将来どのように進行し、どうなるかについての医師や専門家の見通しや予測を指します。医学以外の分野でも将来の見通しという意味で使われます。

主に医療現場で使われ、「良い予後」「悪い予後」という表現が一般的です。医療以外ではやや専門的な響きがあります。「診断」とは異なります。
