医師などが特定の薬や治療を指示すること。また、規則やルールを定めることも指します。

主に医療現場で使われ、「薬を処方する」「治療を指示する」など。規則を定める意味もある。'proscribe'（禁止する）と混同しないように。フォーマルな表現で、医師などが使います。
