유치원이나 프리스쿨은 보통 3~5세 어린이가 초등학교 입학 전에 다니는 교육기관입니다.

'Preschool'는 미국식 표현이고, 영국에서는 'nursery school'이라는 말도 써요. 보통 3~5세 어린이를 위한 기관과 그 단계를 모두 뜻합니다. 형용사처럼 'preschool teacher'처럼도 사용합니다.
