通常指帶有宗教意義地向上帝或神明表達心願。常見搭配有 'pray for someone'、'pray to God' 和 'pray that...'。'Praying' 可以表示正在進行的動作（如 'She is praying'），也可以表示一種一般性的活動。不要和某些語境裡非正式的 'I'm praying'（表示「我真的很希望如此」）混淆。
