Definition

祈りとは、神や高次の存在に語りかける言葉や思いです。助けを求めたり、感謝や希望を表す宗教的な行為も含みます。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に宗教的な場面で使います。「say a prayer」は短く祈るという意味です。「my prayers are with you」は相手を励ます際によく使います。
