人が住んでいる場所や、多くの人が暮らしている地域を表します。都市やエリアに住民がいることを示す言葉です。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に都市やエリアなど人が住む場所で使われます。「densely populated」（人が多い）、「sparsely populated」（人が少ない）などの表現があります。動物には使いません。
