有害な物質が環境に入り、空気や水、土地が汚れたり危険になった状態。

「air pollution」「water pollution」「noise pollution」のように使います。'caused by'（〜によって引き起こされた）とよく組み合わせます。「contamination」はもっと限定的な毒や危険物に使うことが多いです。
