보헤미아에서 유래한 경쾌한 2/4박자 춤 또는 그 음악. '폴카'는 점박이 무늬('polka dots')를 의미할 때도 있다.

'폴카'는 주로 춤이나 음악을 의미한다. 점박이 무늬는 반드시 '폴카 도트(polkan dot)'로 써야 하고, '폴카'만으론 그 뜻이 전달되지 않는다.
