「pokey」は人や物がとても遅い様子を表します。また、俗語で刑務所の意味もあります。

主に子どもや親しみのある場面で「のろい」として使います。「in the pokey」で「刑務所にいる」というアメリカの古いスラングもあります。「poky」と紛らわしいが、意味が異なります。
