씨앗이나 묘목을 땅에 심어 자라게 하는 행동. 무언가를 기르는 구역을 뜻할 수도 있다.

"Planting"은 보통 명사이지만 동명사로도 쓰임. 자주 쓰는 구: "tree planting", "planting season". 농업, 원예, 비유적으로도 씀. "plantation"(대규모 농장)과 혼동 주의.
