果物の中にある小さな種、トランプやドミノにある点、または合図として使われる短い高い音。鳥の病気を指すこともあります。

イギリス英語では果物の小さな種を「pip」と呼びます。カードやサイコロの点や、時報のピッという短い音にも使われます。動詞として「pipped」は僅差で勝つ意味にもなります。
