손가락으로 피부를 집어 약간 아프게 하는 것. 아주 적은 양이나, 돈이나 자원이 부족한 어려운 상황을 나타낼 때도 사용된다.

'꼬집다'는 손가락으로 집는 것, 'a pinch of salt'는 소량을 의미. 'in a pinch'는 필요할 때, 궁할 때 쓴다. 'feel the pinch'는 경제적으로 힘들다는 뜻. 'punch'(주먹질)와 혼동하지 않도록 주의.
