幻影は、実際には存在しないけれど本物のように見えるものや感じられるものを指します。幽霊や幻覚、錯覚なども含みます。

「phantom」は「幽霊」より文学的で、医学用語（幻肢痛など）や空想、見間違いについても使われます。単なる怪談以外にも幅広く使われます。
