Bir suçu veya ciddi bir yanlışı gerçekleştiren kişidir. Genellikle yasa dışı veya zararlı bir eylemi yapan kişi için kullanılır.

Daha çok resmi ve hukuki metinlerde ya da haberlerde kullanılır. Gündelik konuşmalarda nadir rastlanır. 'Suçun faili', 'suçlunun tespiti', 'suçlunun adalete teslimi' gibi ifadelerde geçer.
