滅びる死ぬ（悲劇的・突然の場合）
Definition
突然や悲劇的に死ぬ、または何かが完全に消滅・滅亡すること。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
普段の会話では使わず、文学的・フォーマルな言い方。'火事で perish' や 'perish the thought（そんなこと考えたくもない）' のような表現に使う。

Many plants perish without enough water.
多くの植物は十分な水がなければ**枯れてしまう**。
Thousands perished in the earthquake.
