贖い悔い改め
Definition
罪や過ちを償うために自分から行う反省や行動が贖いです。宗教的には、後悔や謝罪のための特別な祈りや行為のこともあります。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
主に宗教的・フォーマルな場面で使われ、カトリックなどで多く見られます。「penance」は自ら進んで行う償いで、外部から課される「罰」とは異なります。
