台座

Definition

台座は、彫像などを載せるための土台や支えのことです。また、人を過度に称賛するという比喩的な意味もあります。

美術品やモニュメントで「台座の上に」という使い方が多い。比喩的に「人を台座に上げる」は欠点を無視して過剰に称賛するという意味で会話でよく使われる。
