政府が発行する書類で、発明を一定期間独占的に作ったり使ったり販売したりできる権利を与えるもの。

Usage Notes (Japanese)

主に法的、ビジネス、技術分野で使われます。「file patents」「hold patents」という表現で使われ、発明に対する法的保護のみを指します。「patience」（忍耐）とは意味が異なります。
