手のひらでやさしく何かや誰かを軽くたたいたり、なでたりする行為。愛情や励ましを表すときによく使う。
Usage Notes (Japanese)
「pat」は「軽くたたく」「なでる」という意味で、「hit」や「slap」よりもずっと優しい動作です。『頭を軽くたたく』『ペットをなでる』などによく使います。「pat down」は所持品検査などの意味で異なります。
