공격이나 타격을 막거나, 곤란한 질문을 슬기롭게 피하는 것.

주로 펜싱같은 스포츠나 문학에서 자주 쓰이며, 곤란한 질문에 답변을 피할 때도 사용됩니다. 물리적 사물을 피할 땐 'dodge'나 'block'이 더 적합합니다.
