郊外

Definition

都市や町の中心から離れた、外れのエリアや周辺部のこと。

「outskirts」は複数形のみで使用し、町の具体的な場所ではなく広い範囲を指す言葉です。中心部には使わず、「the outskirts of town」のような表現と一緒に使います。

Many people live on the outskirts of the city.

多くの人が都市の**郊外**に住んでいる。

There is a new shopping mall on the outskirts.
