ऐसा व्यक्ति जो अस्पताल या क्लिनिक में इलाज के लिए जाता है लेकिन रात में वहीं नहीं रुकता।

मुख्य रूप से मेडिकल संदर्भ में 'inpatient' (अंदर भर्ती) के विपरीत प्रयोग होता है। आम वाक्यांश: 'outpatient clinic', 'outpatient appointment'। आपातकालीन कक्ष के लिए इस्तेमाल नहीं होता जब तक भर्ती न हो।
