他や他の集団より数が多いこと。

主に集団同士の比較で使われ、フォーマルまたは中立的な表現です。受動態（"outnumbered"）でもよく使われます。個々の一対一の比較には使いません。

Girls outnumber boys in the class.

クラスでは女の子が男の子を**数で上回っている**。
